Despite constantly increasing competition from SUVs, the classic sedan is still going strong. It's easy to understand why, as no other vehicle type can match its blend of comfort and agility. The 2025 Kia K5 is a perfect example of a midsized sedan that will give you everything you want from a road vehicle. Keep reading to discover more about its features and how they've improved from last year's model.
2025 Kia K5 Overview
The 2025 Kia K5 is part of the first-ever K5 generation, which was introduced in 2021. While it was a great vehicle from the start, it's only gotten better with each model year due to multiple technical, aesthetic, and technological improvements. The result is one of the best midsized sedans available on the market today.
Exterior Design Updates
The 2025 Kia K5 has a redesigned exterior, with small updates to both the front and the back end. This already great-looking vehicle has become even prettier, with an added touch of sportiness. The K5's instantly recognizable tiger nose front grille has been slightly updated, making the sedan seem more aggressive while adding a touch of luxury. The headlights also have a futuristic new look, while the front and rear bumpers feature a sportier and more performance-oriented design.
There are also new available wheel designs and colors for the 2025 K5. You can choose from a wide variety of wheels, ranging from the basic 16-inch wheels to sportier 19-inch ones.
Interior Enhancements
The 2025 Kia K5's interior is more comfortable and luxurious than ever. The main update is the enhanced materials used throughout the cabin, from the soft cloth trim in the base version to the SynTex trim with leather accents on higher models. There are also plenty of premium materials elsewhere throughout the interior, including aluminum and wood elements that add an elegant and distinguished look.
The center console has also been slightly redesigned, ensuring all its features are intuitive and easy to find. There's also plenty of space for everyone, and the seat cushions provide enough support to stay comfortable after many hours on the road while holding everyone firmly in place when taking quick corners. Forward visibility is excellent, and the suspension system provides a smooth yet agile ride, canceling out small road bumps.
Performance Improvements
The updated K5 also comes with a new standard powertrain configuration. The 2025 K5 has replaced the 2024 model's base turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with a more powerful 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce up to 191 horsepower. If acceleration is one of your priorities, you can opt for the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with up to 290 horsepower. This engine pushes the K5 from 0 to 60 mph in only 5.2 seconds.
Except for the GT trim that has an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, all trims come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Most trims also come standard with front-wheel drive (FWD), but the GT-Line offers all-wheel drive (AWD).
Safety and Driver Assistance
Safety is a top concern for Kia's engineers and designers, with the 2025 model improving upon an already impressive list of active safety features. One of the stand-out additions of the 2025 model is an updated blind-spot view monitor that shows a live video feed of the K5's blind spots when activating the turn signal, helping you avoid unpleasant road situations. Other essential advanced safety features available in the 2025 Kia K5's standard configuration include:
- Forward collision warning with automatic braking: It warns the driver if it detects an imminent collision with another vehicle or object. It may also apply the brakes automatically to mitigate the impact in some situations.
- Evasive steering assistance: It works together with the forward collision warning system and automatically steers the vehicle to avoid frontal impacts when there isn't enough distance to brake safely.
- Intersection collision mitigation: It monitors the Kia's surroundings when taking a left turn and warns the driver if another vehicle is approaching dangerously.
- Adaptive cruise control: It maintains a driver-set speed on the highway and adjusts it to keep a constant distance from the vehicle in front of the Kia.
Technology Upgrades
The previous K5 model came with a standard 8-inch touch screen, which could be upgraded to a 10.25-inch one. The 2025 model comes with an all-new 12.3-inch touch-screen display for all trims, making it easier to access its functions. Besides the larger and sharper screen, the 2025 model also introduces wireless smartphone connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This makes it easy to connect your smartphone and access all your apps without the need to plug it in. There's also an all-new 12-inch digital gauge cluster that you can customize to display relevant information.
Pricing and Trim Levels
The base LSX trim is available at a starting MSRP of $26,990. This is slightly more expensive than the 2024 model, but the new additions are more than worth it and make the 2025 K5 a better deal in its standard configuration. The upgraded GT-Line, which adds some comfort and sport-oriented features, starts at an MSRP of $27,990 for the FWD version or $29,590 for the AWD variant. The GT trim features an enhanced turbocharged engine and is available at an MSRP of $33,090. Finally, the high-end EX trim is packed with luxurious features for an MSRP of $34,490.
